Network Maintenance on October 1, 2023

The University of Georgia’s Georgia Advanced Computing Resource Center (GACRC) will suspend all jobs running on Sapelo2 and the teaching cluster during the scheduled network maintenance on Sunday, October 1, 2023. The maintenance, conducted by Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS), will take place from 6:00 a.m. to midnight and will cause periodic, intermittent outages of campus internet access.

Impact on GACRC:

  • Suspension of Jobs: All running jobs on Sapelo2 and the teaching cluster will be suspended on Sunday morning to prevent job failure.
  • Access Disabled: Access to Sapelo2, the OnDemand interface, the teaching cluster, and file transfer nodes (e.g., xfer) will be disabled during the maintenance window.
  • Globus Transfers: File transfers via Globus may also be affected.
  • Resumption: Jobs will resume and access to GACRC systems will be restored once the network maintenance is completed.

Additional Maintenance Details:

  • Telephone Services: Expect sporadic outages. In emergencies, use a cell phone to call UGA Police at 911 instead of 706-542-2200.
  • Elevator Phones: Emergency phones in elevators may not work, and cell phone connectivity is unreliable. Use stairs whenever possible.
  • Fire Alarm Panels: Fire alarm panels may beep continuously until the phone connection is restored. Report any signs of fire or smoke to UGA Police.
